If you know me, then you know this is not my first shark-based artwork, as they are my favorite animals. However, both my sculpture and this painting speak to the same issue: the shark finning industry.

Sharks are considered a delicacy in certain cuisines. They are caught, strategically separated from their fins, and released back into the sea. Left to either bleed out or drown. Neither of which are favorable outcomes for sharks.

Here, I’ve imagined a shark that entered my Blobbiverse and received some very much-needed medical attention.

The background colors symbolize the sand and sea, while my signature Blobby Eyes pattern stands in for the countless sharks lost to cruelty. The silent witnesses.

Although it no longer has its own dorsal or caudal fin, it has been fitted with prosthetics instead. In an attempt to restore its strength and dignity. To restore its majesty.
