MY ARTISTIC PHILOSOPHY

thoughts & intentions behind my art and process

In an ideal world, there would be no suffering.
At times, however, it has been a catalyst.
We wouldn’t have some of the artworks, lessons,
or strengths we carry today.

Not every piece I create is born from sunshine, humor, or random fleeting thoughts.

My first Blobby, and others, began in darkness.

A piece born from such a place is not meant to live as a somber reminder in someone’s space or life.

My art is meant to uplift.

Whether one of my surreal Blobby pieces, or some other subject matter, like a portrait with a dash of Blobbiverse whimsy- each piece holds space.

Space for healing. For reflection.

For connection to the human experience.

Gentle companions living in a space. Meant to elicit a giggle at times when most needed.

Occasionally, reminders that you’re in serious need of some noms.

Each artwork is a snapshot of a moment in life.
Which is why my thesis behind my work is: Transforming little moments into art.

That’s what I do.
I take little moments. However important or seemingly insignificant, and transform them into a visual story frozen in time. I never know ahead of time how the story will be processed through my lens.
All I know is that I've come to trust myself and my process.

I recognize something in a moment in life.
It sets something off in me.
And off my brain and hand(s) go…

Creating something new from whatever my brain/hand(s) team has subconsciously, or sometimes consciously, decided needs to be preserved. In whichever medium from my artistic arsenal serves its purpose best.

Through my intuitive process, I become a spectator. Observing what is taking shape before me. Making decisions in a fraction of a second. Decisions felt, rather than consciously considered. Happening faster than I can explain. Or even keep up with.

Eventually, that something new, triggered by a moment, becomes something finished.

Once my mind has deemed it resolved.

Some of my pieces will speak to your soul.
Some may elicit a wtf level of pondering.

Either way, they’re here to honor those fleeting moments.
The big ones, and the little ones.
And…
To lovingly remind you that beauty can take many forms.
Including that of a beautifully bizarre little Blobby.
