We do require that, and so much more.

When creating this piece, I was thinking about the fact that we can push ourselves to become better, but we never actually reach a final state of “betterness.” Unlike an artwork that can be technically defined as finished, until our time runs out, we are always a work in progress. A Masterpiece in Progress.

Here, Blobby me is pondering the act of creation, or of creating oneself.

The Blobbies on the wall are all past versions. Who we’ve been and the experiences we’ve gathered that have allowed us to be where we are today. There are two Blobbies that stick out in particular. One is upside down. The version of ourselves that never seems quite able to see itself in the way others see it. Regardless of good or bad. Then there is the barely noticeable one at the top left. The future version that, in the present, we will never be able to fully understand or grasp.

It’s a never-ending cycle of attaining new knowledge and experiences, growing, becoming accustomed to that new state of being, and starting back over again. And again. And again.
