Artistic Influences
My work varies from assignment to assignment, or depending on what it is that I make for myself outside of class. I have done pieces that are on both ends of the realism and abstract parts of the spectrum.
One of the artists that I've admired for a long time is Michelangelo. He had a beautiful way of rendering forms that he saw, and including the various types of light that touched his subjects. He had a great eye for detail, which is something that I am especially fond of since I am very detail oriented in my work as well.
Also, it may sound cliche, but I am also a big fan of Jackson Pollock. His work may look like random paint splatters to some, but there are feelings in those pieces. The paint drips that make up a piece have been thoughtfully put down to create an aesthetically pleasing combination. I may not be an abstract painter, but it is a direction that I am wanting to head in for a while.
I guess we'll just see in which direction my work progresses...
